    Another AI report...

It was bath time yet again during AI, but not a scheduled one.  Micah got into some nice mud outside while Aaron was spreading mulch and we had to do a little dip in the tub to get him clean.  Oh well.  There weren't any surprises really last night.  The same ones are doing great and the same ones are disappointing to me.  I can't judge for what America likes, but I think the top 5 are outstanding and the strongest top 5 the show has ever had.  They are all unique and different.

Kristy Lee and Ramiele just aren't as mature in their artistry and musicality as the rest of them.  Week after week they prove that.  I sincerely hope this is the end for one of them because if any of the others go it will be a huge mistake!  David A is still disappointing me.  He's great at the ballads but that's it.  He has a great voice, but nothing has been as good as the Lenin song for me so far.  He doesn't seem to be getting better...  I'm not connecting as well with Syesha as I thought I would either.  She's just not as good as Carly (being the other power singer).
Michael Johns blew me away last night.  Very cool bluesy sound.  Totally awesome and better than Queen for me.   I LOVED Jason Castro last night too.  Something happened to make him more confident and you could tell.  Carly was great, David Cook was fantastic, and Brooke White was super.  These last 5 are just sooo fantastic in their own styles.  They are the strongest musically in knowing who they are and performing songs in styles that fit them.

That's all I got to say about that.  If the AI tour was in Birmingham or Huntsville, though, I just might be tempted to try and go... There are enough that are actually really good this year to warrant that!

Micah has watched this Letter Factory movie about 20 times since a friend loaned it to us.  He loves it and he's picking up everything like a sponge.  Is it normally for a less than 2 year old to know a bunch of letters and sounds?  He knows Z, A, U, S, K, C, M, and T pretty consistently AND knows what sound they make.  Scary smart!

    American Idol vs. Bathtime...

So, Aaron had work to do out in the garage during my sacred Tuesday night AI time.  And it was bath night.  Stink.  That means for at least half the show I was standing in the doorway where I could hear and kind of see the show and keep my eye on Micah "swimming" in the tub.  There were lots of dinosaurs in the tub last night to swim with...  I caught most of the show, but not every moment and I wasn't able to concentrate too much.  Here's my impression, though.

I think David A. thinks he can change the world through song.  I remember that tune from 80s as one of those "let's all hold hands and sing together about _________" songs.  This one was violence or gun control (or something), but it could have been homelessness, or world hunger, or saving the planet.  This is at least the 3rd song he's done like that.  He's killing himself.  Just 'cause the song is about something "noble" doesn't mean it's a good song.  I still love his voice, but it's just a blah performance when he sings a dumb song.  So disappointed...again.

I don't know if Kristy is safe or not (so many pitch problems), but all the older watchers (and veterans) will be voting for her just 'cause she sang that song.  Kind of a tricky ploy she did.  That song is sung way too much.

Chickezie- The bits I saw were cheesy (I heard cheesy linked to Chickezie way before Simon said it.  I think he copied the internet).  It just sounded old to me.

Brooke, Carly, David Cook (sooo awesome last night), John, Syesha, Jason - I think they are all safe - Hopefully Carly fans picked it up on the voting this week.  She so very very much deserve to make it to the top 3.

Ramiele - Maybe it's because I'm 10 years older than her, but I just cannot connect with her.  They were comparing current idols to past idols on the internet the other day and Ramiele was compared to Katherine McPhee.  Huh??  Not even close.  They said it was because their personalities were both  second rate to their voices, but Ramiele is no Katherine.  I kind of still hope she'll be the one going home tonight.

Kristy deserves to go home (but probably won't), Chickezie might go home by being a little old fashioned, but I hope Ramiele does as she just doesn't do much for me (why did she sing a song that Carly had already sung... bad choice).

  • Easter Egg Hunt

Micah got into it this year and had a lot of fun "finding."  As soon as I told him there were presents and candy inside, he was off.  His basket had dinosaurs, paper, and wondermagic pens in it and the eggs had dinosaurs inside too.  Very fun for little boys.

Not such a memorable night on AI...

Kind of boring performances mostly all around last night.  I'm not going to say too much except I knew they shouldn't have done a repeat of Beatles night.  Last week was so good that they shouldn't have tried to duplicate it.  I'm just going to predict that Ramiele will be be going home although Kristy's not safe either.  I liked Carly's and David Cook's performances the best.  David A's was good as he sang a sensitive ballad.  It's what he does best.

It's raining in Alabama today, yet the birds are singing.  Strange birds.  The project for this week is taxes.  But that means I have to wait for nap time before going to the outside garage and digging out papers.

Micah still chitter chatters all day long.  He's confused on the word "out" as in the morning he always says "light out" meaning he wants to turn the lights on.  When he wants picked up, he says "Mommy, out.".  The funniest thing is also in the morning when I get him up from his crib he say "poops out."  I don't know what that means other than I sometimes call him "little poop" and he must have picked up on that and is saying he wants out.  But that would mean he's using the word correctly in that instance.  We've also been having fruit snacks in the house and he loves them.  Right now they are dinosaur shaped and he asks for them by saying "want some dinosaur snackies" and then roars.  When he asks for things he can't have, to stop the wining I've been telling him "I'm sorry, Micah, we can't have those (or do that) right now."  He's picked up on that and says "Sorry" ALL the time.  I guess we'll be ready when it's time to teach him to apologize!

My friend Ashley got a SUPER nice new digital camera and took this picture yesterday.  A good camera really makes a HUGE difference!

    Bye, Bye Kristy...

Kristy is going home tonight.  Not even country fans would have liked her song last night.  The fast drum kick pattern was horrendous.  It was like on Who's Line Is It Anyway and they have to sing in a certain music style and they just whip out the standard country beat and sing whatever to it.  Awful musical interpretation.

But how about that Chikezie!  He saved himself with that great performance.  I'm so glad he's still in it.

Does just one go home a week from here on out?  I'm confused on that...

Here's my list of best to worst from last night

    1.  Carly Smithson
    2.  Chikezie
    3.  David Cook
    4.  Brooke White (the top 4 were all good in their own way and they are really all tied together)
    5.  John Michaels
    6.  Amanda Overmyer (she smiled!!!)
    7.  Syesha
    8.  Jason Castro
    9.  David Archuleta (he should have done better than that... it was the song choice)
    10. David H. (not safe from going home either)
11.Ramiele (could be a shocker and go home instead of Kristy...)
    12.  Kristy Lee Cook (most likely, and deserving, to be going home)

Micah LOVES this train movie.  We watch it everyday.  It's mostly music and videos of moving trains and even model trains (from the Choo Choo Barn!).  He just loves "Huh-rains"  We got it at a consignment store.  Best $5 ever...
